Peterborough's "Great Eastern Run" is always one of the first dates to be marked up on Alan Gray's calendar here at MGC. That's because the MGC Director, a member of the Stamford Striders club, loves to take part in the annual event. This year was no different, and despite the rather inclement weather, Alan completed the half-marathon course in an admirable time of 02:25:36; a great effort, especially given the prevailing conditions.
As reported here in previous years, Alan is a dedicated supporter of the PSP Association. His commitment to this charity continues on, and by participating in this year's event he has raised further sponsorship to the tune of £460. Yet again, this is great work Alan, we are so proud of you!
All the staff here at MGC welcome the opportunity to support good causes wherever possible. A firm favourite is our "Dress-down Friday" – quite simply the freedom to wear casual clothes to work on a Friday. Everyone appreciates this flexibility, so in return, all are happy to make a small weekly donation to our charity fund.
We recently observed that the fund had grown to a healthy £500, so the staff were keen to pass this on to a local charity. It’s always difficult to pick just one, but having visited the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice this week to make our donation, we couldn’t be happier that this wonderful facility received the vote of our staff. It provides expert care and dedicated support to both patients and their families, helping people live the best life they possibly can, within such beautiful and tranquil surroundings.
We are in awe of everyone who has helped and is working to deliver such a remarkable service and environment. Our hearts go out to all those whose lives are supported and touched by it.
